Your first week with FODZYME®Updated 3 hours ago

FODZYME® starts working immediately when it comes into contact with food, breaking down specific FODMAPs during digestion. This guide covers how to use it, what to expect, and how to identify your triggers.

Quick start protocol

First 5 days: one scoop (or stick pack) on every meal

Use FODZYME® on everything you eat for 5 days: oatmeal, pizza, smoothies, salad, pasta, and more. This keeps you protected against FODMAPs until you learn your triggers.

FODMAPs are found in most everyday meals, so using FODZYME® on all meals during this period ensures you're covered even if you don’t know which foods are causing your symptoms.

After 5 days

By now, you'll have a clear sense of whether FODMAPs are behind your symptoms. Notice which meals felt different with FODZYME®—those are likely your triggers. Use FODZYME® with those meals and skip it when you don't need it. The more you learn your triggers, the more targeted and confident you'll get.

How to use

Use FODZYME® at the start of meals that contain FODMAPs so the enzymes can break down the FODMAPs as you eat.

  1. Mix into your food
Use 1 scoop (or 1 stick pack) and sprinkle directly into meals right before eating. It's tasteless and texture-free.

  2. Can't mix? Sprinkle and chew
Sprinkle the whole dose on the first few bites and chew well. This helps the enzymes spread through your food.

  3. Hot food?
Let it cool slightly before sprinkling. If it's too hot for you to eat comfortably, it's too hot for FODZYME®.

Important notes

  • For longer or larger meals: If a meal lasts longer than 30 minutes, add another dose. For large meals or meals especially high in FODMAPs (e.g. holiday dinners, multi-course restaurants, or grazing at a party), use 1.5-2 doses or more as needed.
  • Use the full dose: Stretching doses to save product often leads to disappointing results. The enzymes need to be present in sufficient quantities to break down FODMAPs effectively. For smaller snacks with minimal FODMAP content, a half dose may be enough, but you should use the full dose for meals.
  • One dose per meal: FODZYME® only works while the enzymes are actively in contact with food during digestion. Each meal that contains FODMAPs needs its own dose, i.e. a dose from lunch won't carry over to dinner.

What to expect

Meal-to-meal, most people notice a reduction in bloating, gas, and abdominal discomfort within 4-8 hours (that’s when FODMAP-related symptoms usually appear). Some feelings of digestion are normal—the goal isn't zero symptoms, it's keeping them manageable while enjoying the foods you love. If you've been avoiding certain foods, some mild discomfort when reintroducing them is normal. Start with small portions and build up gradually.

Changes to bowel habits may take longer to notice, since digestion is influenced by more than just FODMAPs. Things like hydration, stress, sleep, and overall diet all play a role.

Foods FODZYME® helps digest

FODZYME® targets three FODMAP types:

  • Fructans found in garlic, onions, wheat, chickpeas, and Brussels sprouts
  • GOS (galacto-oligosaccharides) found in beans, lentils, cashews, and pistachios
  • Lactose found in milk, yogurt, soft cheeses, and other dairy products

FODZYME® does not break down polyols or excess fructose. If your triggers fall into these categories, FODZYME® won't help with those specific foods.

Learn your triggers

After your 5-day protocol, it’s time to start identifying which specific foods and FODMAP types affect you most. Here’s how to get started:

  • Start with a known trigger: Pick a meal you're confident causes symptoms to test FODZYME® on its own and gauge the effect.
  • Keep a simple log: Note what you ate, how much FODZYME® you used, and how you felt afterward. Patterns emerge quickly.
  • Adjust as you go: Standard dosing works for most meals, but you may need more for larger portions or FODMAP-heavy dishes.
  • Bring it with you: Toss a few stick packs in your bag, car, or desk drawer so you're never caught without it.
