Can I use FODZYME while pregnant or breastfeeding?Updated 5 months ago

Pregnancy is a time of growth and development, making a healthy, nourishing diet full of nutrient-dense foods highly important. A low FODMAP diet is not suggested during pregnancy, as it may pose excessive dietary restriction [1].

Digestive enzymes such as those in FODZYME's formula act by breakin down FODMAPs in food into more easily absorbed carbohydrates. The enzymes do not enter the body. If the enzymes do not come into contact with FODMAPs to break down, they are simply metabolized and excreted. This makes digestive enzymes a highly safe, low-risk intervention.

For ethical reasons, the health and nutrition field rarely conducts studies among pregnant and breastfeeding women. This means data on use of many supplements and medications in the pregnant and breastfeeding populations is sparse.

Still, there is no information to suggest that FODZYME is unsafe for use during pregnancy or during breastfeeding. FODZYME may be used by anyone who has difficulty tolerating FODMAPs. That said, we always recommend that people who are pregnant or breastfeeding reach out to their physician before adding any supplement to their routine.

We care deeply about the safety and science behind FODZYME. All of our ingredients are Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA. Additionally, Kiwi Biosciences completes third-party lab testing for heavy metals, microbes, and other contaminants to ensure quality and safety.
