Can I pre-treat high-FODMAP foods with FODZYME®?Updated a month ago
Yes, you can pre-treat high-FODMAP foods with FODZYME®, specifically for liquid, creamy, or mushy foods like smoothies, sauces, dips, or soups. Pre-treating allows the enzymes to start breaking down fructans, GOS, and lactose before you eat, helping to reduce symptoms.
To pre-treat, simply mix the correct dose of FODZYME® into the food and let it sit at room temperature for 2-3 hours, or longer if refrigerated. Once the enzymes have broken down the FODMAPs, the food can even be gently reheated, since the enzymes will have already done their job. Just remember, FODZYME® should never be cooked or baked directly into food, as high heat (above 140°F / 60°C) will deactivate the enzymes.
Pre-treating is a great option for meal prepping or for foods like garlic-infused sauces, making it easier to enjoy formerly off-limits meals with less worry about digestive discomfort.
