Can FODZYME® help with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)?Updated a month ago

FODZYME® is not a treatment for Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), but it may help manage symptoms for individuals with both SIBO and FODMAP sensitivities. FODMAPs, which include fructans, galacto-oligosaccharides, and lactose, are naturally occurring carbohydrates that serve as sources of prebiotics, probiotics, and dietary fiber. Normally, gut bacteria in the small intestine ferment these fibers, producing gas that can lead to bloating and discomfort—common symptoms in individuals with SIBO.

By breaking down these specific FODMAPs into simpler, more digestible, and gut-friendly components before they reach the lower GI tract, FODZYME® reduces the amount of fermentable material available to bacteria in the small intestine. This process may help alleviate gas and discomfort associated with FODMAP intake. However, it is important to note that FODZYME® does not cure SIBO. It is primarily used to manage symptoms, while the underlying cause of SIBO should be addressed separately through appropriate medical treatment. Always consult a healthcare provider before incorporating FODZYME® into your SIBO management plan.
